As a senior photographer in Golden, Colorado, I knew we were going to create something special when Gianna reached out and said she wanted her senior photos to feel like her. She’s grown up around horses and has always been drawn to that ranch-style aesthetic, so we leaned all the way in. From the boots to the backdrops, everything about this session was meant to reflect her roots and personality.

Preparing for a Session as a Golden, Colorado Senior Photographer

We started the afternoon at a tucked-away park in Golden, Colorado that allows horses. The park is one of those hidden gems that somehow still isn’t swarmed with people, which is rare around here! My sister-in-law, a professional horseback riding instructor (and my go-to horse wrangler for sessions like this), brought out the horses and helped us create some truly stunning photos. Gianna wore a long white dress with her boots to start, giving off a romantic, country-western vibe that couldn’t have fit her more perfectly. She later changed into a green top and jeans that really made the “cowgirl” aesthetic come alive.

Senior Photos in Morrison, Colorado

From there, we made our way to the Mount Falcon Trailhead in Morrison, Colorado, which is one of my favorite spots for senior sessions, especially if you’re going for that wide-open, western feel. The tall grass there always brings the drama, and depending on the time of year, you can catch it lush and green or soft and golden. Either way, it never misses.

Gianna started at Mount Falcon in her green top and jeans, then switched to a bold red dress that added a gorgeous pop of color against the golden grass. But the fan favorite? The white dress and cowgirl hat combo came back for a final round of portraits, and it was such a yes moment. That outfit, in that location, with the light hitting just right? Western dream.

As a Golden, Colorado senior photographer, these are the sessions I live for. The ones where we get to highlight who someone truly is- not just how they look, but how they feel. And when the session takes us to places like Morrison too? Even better. Whether you’re drawn to wide open fields, tall grasses, or the simple beauty of Colorado’s landscape, there’s something about this place that just gets it right.
