A Road Trip “for Pokémon GO”… or so she thought
Connor had been planning this surprise for weeks. The perfect cover? A casual day trip from Houston for a Pokémon GO event in the area.
Heather, her daughter, Connor’s best friend, and his girlfriend all piled into the car, genuinely excited for an adventure.

Heather turned around and saw Connor already dropping to one knee.
Her reaction? Pure, stunned joy — hands over her face, happy tears welling, a rush of emotion that filled the entire cavern. Her daughter gasped behind her. There’s something surreal about witnessing a proposal surrounded by thousands of years of stone. It’s grounding (😉) and otherworldly all at once.
Post-Proposal Glow
One of my favorite parts of photographing proposals is capturing what happens after the “yes.”
Heather couldn’t stop looking at her ring. Connor couldn’t stop smiling. Their daughter hugged them both, and the whole group felt like they were floating.
We continued the tour, stopping for pockets of glowy cave light and little moments where they couldn’t help but lean into each other. Nothing forced. Nothing posed. Just real, warm, candid joy. And then, once we emerged from the caverns, the four of them all had their phones back out to catch Pokémon. It was iconic.
