As a wedding & engagement photographer in Austin, I get to work with some of the best couples on a regular basis. This Spring season has been filled with so many beautiful sessions, and I can’t wait to get them all on the blog. But for now, let’s talk about Katie and Bri.

A photo of two engaged women standing in a field of wildflowers in Austin, TX. The flowers are yellow with a red center. One of the women is wearing a white spaghetti strap dress and the other is wearing a white button-up shirt and ripped blue jeans. The women are holding hands.

Katie and Bri are getting married in the Spring of 2025, so we figured we’d do their engagement photos in the Spring of 2024 to capture the same vibe. The wildflowers are gorgeous in Texas this time of year, which is perfect for engagement photos! They arrived for their session wearing adorable coordinated outfits, topped off with matching Vans shoes they purchased previously.

Excited to finally meet them in-person and get the session started, I greeted them, soon finding out that they had additional accessories that they wanted to incorporate into a few of their photos. I love accessories, and asked to see them so I could plan accordingly. They pulled out two matching hats from the Target dollar section, bedazzled with “Bride” on the brim of each hat. I was giddy!

Target is one of my favorite places to wander, and this time of year they tend to have items in their dollar section dedicated to lovely brides-to-be. I recently purchased a veil headband and a pair of adorable pink and sparkly heart-shaped sunglasses to add to my flat-lay kit, and had noticed the iconic hats then, immediately envisioning (and unintentionally manifesting) this exact photograph. It was rewarding to see that vision come to life through Katie and Bri.

The whole session was a blast. Katie and Bri came prepared with a second set of outfits that were just as adorable as the first. The session continued into blue hour, which provided a different but beautiful vibe for their photos. We were even lucky enough to capture a few photos with the full moon behind them.

We got to capture their session on our film camera as well, which always makes for unique and nostalgic images.
