This time of year is what we consider our “slow season”, and it’s understandable why: the leaves on trees are gone, the weather is crummy, and people are recovering from the holiday madness. That’s why we jump on the opportunity to photograph when we can! Andrea and Derek wanted couple’s photos at The Pearl to commemorate their courthouse wedding, as they never took photos when they tied the knot in March. We got to know them throughout their session, and even got to see photos of their adorable puppies!
This session was the first time I have photographed on a rooftop/parking garage, hitting an item on my bucket list. I adore the clean and authentic vibe of an urban location. Derek and Andrea started the session in polished and casual outfits, with Andrea wearing a black shirt and jeans, paired with white boots, and Derek wearing a white polo shirt and jeans. Needless to say, they did a phenomenal job picking the perfect outfit for the location and time of year.
After we took a few romantic and playful photos, we transitioned into a few artistic prompts.
After finishing up the rooftop section of these couple’s photos at The Pearl, we began heading down so that they could change, but we decided to stop at the stairwell for a few more images.
Then, we noticed the breathtaking view of the Tower of Americas and Hotel Emma from the landing and stopped for a photo.
We finally made it down the stairs and to the food hall, where Andrea and Derek changed into their wedding attire for anniversary photos. We wrestled with Derek’s bowtie for a few moments so that it looked tidy, and then got started with an editorial and romantic pose.
After taking these photos, we headed down towards the Riverwalk and took a few images with the gorgeous water behind them.
Finally, we ended the session with a few more romantic images, with the stunning Hotel Emma in the background.
Derek and Andrea were a wonderful couple to work with, and I truly enjoyed photographing them! To see more recent engagement/couple’s sessions, check out the blog!
