Some sessions just feel extra special, and Kiki and Darius’ maternity shoot was one of those. As close friends of ours, we were overjoyed to capture these beautiful maternity photos at Canyon Lake to celebrate this new chapter in their lives. The setting? A stunning sunset at Canyon Lake, with the vibrant energy of their playful husky, Leah, adding even more love and joy to the moment.

Canyon Lake is one of our favorite locations for portrait sessions- its close proximity (less than an hour) to San Antonio combined with the beauty of the crystal clear water makes it a great spot for anybody who is looking for a stunning waterfront location.

As the sun began its descent, casting a warm golden hue across the sky, Kiki and Darius stood hand in hand, ready to embrace parenthood. Kiki was glowing, her happiness radiating as she held her baby bump, while Darius stood beside her, offering support and love with every touch and glance. But let’s not forget Leah—their lively white husky, who made sure this session was filled with plenty of fun and laughter.

Leah had the time of her life swimming in circles around her favorite people, her bright white fur glistening against the lake’s waters. She leaped and splashed, creating ripples that reflected the golden light, while Kiki and Darius couldn’t stop smiling. Their fur baby soaked up all the love and attention, reminding us that she’s an essential part of this growing family.

As the sun dipped lower, we couldn’t resist capturing a few breathtaking silhouette shots. Against the vibrant backdrop of the setting sun, Kiki and Darius stood hand in hand, their figures outlined in a beautiful moment of stillness. These shots captured the quiet anticipation of the journey ahead, with the soft glow of the evening framing their love and connection. The images speak volumes—sometimes, it’s in the shadows where the most powerful emotions shine through.

In addition to the vibrant colors of the sunset, we also captured some timeless black-and-white film photographs. Stripping away the colors allowed the raw emotions of the day to come through even more clearly. The contrast between light and shadow highlighted the tender moments between Kiki and Darius—their love, excitement, and anticipation for their new baby. These black-and-white images offer a classic, artistic touch, preserving the beauty of the day in a way that feels both nostalgic and elegant.
