In June, I had the pleasure of capturing Sarah and Wyatt’s graduation photoshoot at Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins, CO. As a Fort Collins engagement photographer, I adore Horsetooth Reservoir. It’s one of my go-to photography locations in NOCO!
This session was all about celebrating Sarah and Wyatt’s graduation from the University of Wyoming, a milestone the two were greatly looking forward to for a long time.
We chose mid-summer for the shoot, right after a season of heavy rains, which left the reservoir looking stunningly full. The greenery around us was vibrant, creating a natural, lively backdrop.
Sarah stood out beautifully in a gold dress, while Wyatt’s blue button-up shirt added a cool, casual feel to the mix. Their choices in clothing not only looked great but also subtly nodded to their school colors.
The weather played a surprising role that day. Midway through, rain began to fall, adding an unexpected but welcome dynamic to our session. Instead of seeking shelter, Sarah and Wyatt embraced the moment, laughing and continuing the shoot under the soft rain. It was a testament to their easygoing and adaptable nature.
The photos from the day reflect a mix of celebration, accomplishment, and anticipation for the future. While we captured some classic posed shots, some of the best moments were the unplanned ones – spontaneous laughter, casual strolls by the water, and shared glances between the couple.
This photo shoot was more than just commemorating their academic journey; it was about capturing the essence of a significant life transition. As Sarah and Wyatt move forward into new chapters, these images will serve as a reminder of a day filled with simple joys, natural beauty, and a hint of adventure – a perfect start to their post-graduation journey.
